Final Fantasy 11 Question (Technical not Online)

    Hi guys,

I'm after a copy of this for the PC and I notice it is now out officially. I've also noticed on the front it is labelled 'European Edition'.

I heard that the UK version of the latest expansion (Chain of Pro something or other) doesn't work with a US PC version of the game.

I've been playing FF11 on the PS2 for a while (All US kit) and would like to move over to the PC version using my existing account.

The question I have is will my US set up account work with the 'European' version of the game?

Any help appreciated, hope what I am asking makes sense!

I don't think it's possible unfortunatly. When you register any content ID's for the game and expansions you have to enter the activation codes given in the manual, if your logged in on an american created account, it doesn't let you register anything from the European game

Please note that you will NOT be able to use the Chains of Promathia registration code included in the European version of FINAL FANTASY XI with a PlayOnline account created with the North American version of FINAL FANTASY XI - POL

Damn I was really hoping that wouldn't be the case

I'm really keen to get it going on my PC and for ease (and cost) the UK version seems like a better option.

Looks like I might have to start over Only good thing being I can get onto the server with all the NTSC folk and hopefully get upto speed again with a little help.

No need to start over dude, just spend that extra buck.

Get US CoP and then get the UK PC version and you can play your account on any of the two you want.

          Really?

Any idea where I can get some more info on this?

I had a look on a few sites, but all the info I can find either indicates that it won't work or is just very confusing?!

If I have to I would buy all US versions, just I can't find a decent online retailer that will ship to the UK. Ideas?

I don't know about US PC game retailers sadly, but I do know that you can use your US account on the UK version AS LONG AS you have the expansion pack for your US version. I can confirm this because I do this but with the JP version instead, on JP PS2 and PC.

doesn't dvdbo do US PC games?

So if I understand this correctly a UK version would be fine were it not for COP? So install everything just use the US COP code? Would I use the US codes from my PS2 versions or use the ones supplied with the game?

I hear that people do have it working to a fashion but apparenty they cannot access their accounts to modify things?!

Thats right, you can just install the US CoP on your PS2, register the code supplied, then install the UK PC version and simply enter your login details to play the game fully.

Japanese accounts being played on the US client are not able to access the "service and support" section to modify their details. I'm not sure if its the same with US>UK, but I don't see why that should be a problem of any sort.

So if I understand this correctly everything would work just I wouldn't be able to manage my account - but then I could always do this using my US PS2 setup right?

I was going to buy the US PS2 add on anyway, so combine this with the UK PC one and everything will be ok?

It's the same software just different codes that make the difference then?
