help have i broken my xbox

    hi
just recently i had my xbox chipped and had a 120gb harddrive fitted (everything seemed to be ok,apart from i was having a slighty problem booting into original bios) anyway ive just bought a samsung 616T so i thought id take it apart to fit it.
well heres the bit were curiousity got the better of me,i saw the xenium chip on the motherboard and it wasnt soldered on so i lifted it off just to have a look and put it straight back on but now ive put the xbox back together with the original phillips DVD back in and it wont boot.
after i press the power button the xbox turns on but i have no picture then it turns it self off and then on again with no pic and then turns it self off then on again but stays on with no picture and a red and green flashing eject button.

originaly i was having problems with original bios so i was told to lock the HD in magic config so i did the Hard drive was locked when i took it apart but i dont know if this would effect it

    please help

Not 100% sure but afaik all xboxes (except the earliest models) won't boot up if they aren't completely grounded inside. I think it's an anti tampering thinger. Could be wrong tho.

How was the chip fitted? Was it a no solder job or was it sitting on a pin-header?

it was pushed onto 4 pins on the motherboard and has one wire coming off of it that goes underneath the motherboard

Are you able to take a decent close up picture of it?

Cool, do that and send me the piccy, i'll try and see what the prob is. If you can take the motherboard out and take a piccy of the point underneath too that'd be great. That could have come off.

ok ill post it tommorrow,if the wire had come loose would it be just a case of soldering it back on,also this locking the HD is that anything to worry about ?

The HD should be locked if you want to boot the machine with the chip off. otherwise it wont load the MS dash.

You don't need to locl the HDD unless you are gonna be going on Live, which is a tad risky with a modded xbox. maybe you just haven't put the chip on stright, some of those no solder chips can be a right pain in the butt

I don't think you have put the chip back onto the pin header correctly. There are 7 pins in rows of two. you've probably just missed the pins on one end. Your box should still boot with the chip disabled tho'.

well i booted it with the chip not attached to the motherboard and im getting the same thing that use to happen when i tryed to boot it into original bios with the chip on,which is

When i boot it up i get the original start up screen with xbox X but then it goes to a screen saying i will have to call customer service because there is a problem

also ive had various numbers in the top left of the screen this time its NO.16 but ive had NO.5 when the HD is unlocked and NO.13 when its locked

                        hope this makes sense

heres some pics:BTW ive double checked its installed properly and it is i think??(on all pins)

i noticed one of the pins is missing (2nd from the bottom left side) is this normal also the DO wire is connected fine.GFUNK do you think you can fix it or have i just wasted a ?150 getting it modded

No. 5 is basically telling you to lock HD
                          Other 2 are dashboard errors.

Does the chip have a bios on it? Did you try to install Evo-x or anything?

Do you have msn messenger or something like it, it'll be easier to do this in real time

Edit- Also, please tell me the ?150 was for a modded Xbox and not just to mod it. ( I won't mention you being a traitor and not buying one from me )

The chip needs to be flashed with a bios, but if it had evo-x etc then it muct have been.

                              adding you now
