Otogi help (otherwise I may kill someone)

Just started playing this and I'm stuck on the bloody boat level, can anyone give me some advice for getting through it?

That's the one where the weird blobs try to sink the boat you're in, right? I don't recall having much problems passing it... Equip the Phoenix magic, your light weapon of choice (I think I used either the Locust Wing, the Hydra Staff or the Rune Scimitars) and blast away.

You don't need to kill the blobs, just to get them off the boat. For this, a Light-Light-Light-Heavy combo works wonders. If you think it would take more than 1 combo to get a blob off the boat, kill it with a L-L-L-Magic combo. Make sure you always keep an eye on both the bow and stern of the boat.

At one point a very large blob will jump on the boat, it's the boss. Beating it is very easy, it's only a matter of L-L-L-M comboing it until it dies, which happens very quickly (2, perhaps 3 combos).

If I ever get past level 3, I'll let you know. I'm terrible at the game, simply because I just cannot see a thing - the whole level is practically pitch black.

Jumping from black platform to black platform at night with a rubbish camera drove me nuts until I just gave up.

once you discover you can fly/dash and cover an entire area without touching the ground a lot of the levels are really easy to do.

Give up...its just gets worse the longer it goes on!

And the evil serpent boss thing that comes a little later will drive you insane.

Anyway you do need to kill the blobs otherwise they keep coming back and will sink the boat eventually...just keep mashing them with combos and magic and frantically running from one end of the boat to the other...

Speaking of Otogi, is there any word on a European release of the sequel yet?

Sane> Sega Europe have got Otogi 2 down for a February 2005 release.

Strider> That boss isn't too difficult once you've got the timing right. Make sure you're locked onto him and stay in the centre of the level. Keep running around that central platform, though - if you stay still the lightning will hit you. Move around and you'll be gone by the time it strikes (be careful not to double back on yourself by accident). After circling the arena, the boss will swoop down for an attack - time your jump right and use a heavy attack (Y) on him. You need to hit him in the mouth, so your timing has to be pretty precise. You might find yourself taking a bit of damage when you hit him, but it shouldn't be enough to cause any problems (and there's health hidden in some of the graves anyway, should you need it).

You don't even need to kill him. Do him some damage and he'll eventually sod off, leaving you free to tackle the next level. Return to him later, when you've got better equipment, to see him off and get a decent grade.

That's a point - are you making sure that you're grabbing all the hidden goodies from the levels you've already completed?

                  Thanks, that's great news .

As for that centipede boss, while he flies around the arena he breaks the floating rocks which reveal powerups, if you are low on health just go fly around and pick them up, he can't really hit you while you're dashing in the air. Also, as soon as the battle starts pick up the 'attack up' power up....it's on the ground in one of the 4 directions, I forgot which.
