    Should I buy a slim US PS2?

    I'm sorry for asking so many questions but I'm still new here. Anyway, I'm planning on getting a US PS2, and thanks to you guys, I now have a choice of 3 websites.

    However my sister says I shouldn't get a HDD model, I should wait for the new slim PS2. I only want the HDD PS2 for Resident Evil Outbreak and Final Fantasy XI. I'm a big fan of both series.

    However I think Resident Evil Outbreak can be played online without a HDD and Final Fantasy XI can be played on the PC. I hate the PS2 fan, it ruins the atmosphere of horror games. I have very sharp hearing, I can hear dog whistles.

    So should I buy a slim US PS2?

    V9+ PS2's dont have noice fans like the Previous version, i sit about 1m away from the PS2 and i cannot hear it.

      The slim PS2 also has a fan. Although it's not as loud as the the fat PS2's.

          Do you think the new style will be better? its a bit unproven atm

          Anyway i had a early JPN PS2 and it worked perfect had it a few years, only got rid of it as it worked out cheaper selling it and buying a new modded than sending it off.

            Yeh it's always cheaper doin that,i think mine broke becoz i kept it uprite all the time. I do fink the new style will be better

              I'm sorry but that's a myth - you cant cause damage to a PS2 by keeping the machine upright. If you keep your consoles clean, well ventilated, stay away from poor quality recorded media and make sure the drive is never full of dust etc you wont have any problems.

                The only PS2's ive ever seen die, have been due to people using CD Rips and pants dvd media.

                O and someone dropping it

                  My PS2 that i got in Feb '02 is the only console i have ever owned that has never had a problem/died. And yes i do take good care of them.
