Parappa 2 and Surround Sound Amp

Had a wierd orrurence when I bought Parappa the Rapper 2 today. Whenever I play the game through the Optical Out to my surround amp, no sound comes out from the game at all. The bootup sound comes out fine (the whoosh, ding ding type sound) but as soon as the game starts, nothing.

I've tried other games and they all work fine. Also, my TV is hooked up to the amp with some analogue cabling and when I select standard TV mode the sound is fine, suggesting that it's the Optical Out that's at fault.

Anyone know why this could be? Is it just that some games won't output sound through the optical port (like I said many other games are fine) or is my disc faulty?

    Hey man.

Not directly related, but Fantavision does exactly the same thing on my amp, have also tried Parappa and it does the same.

Must just be the way they are coded - pity really as they are both good little games!

That's cool. I really just wanted confirmation that the disc wasn't faulty.

      Thanks for the help

        Also mentioned here http://www.agoraquest.com/viewtopic....c=529&forum=44

Seem to remember Sony doing this deliberately at the time to stop people ripping the soundtracks digitally.
