Xbox keeps cutting out

when I switch the power on my chipped xbox, the green light comes on for a few seconds, then shuts off again. It then does the same and finally stays on, but it flashes green and red (like when you pull the scart lead out of the back of it).

Any ideas?

What's displayed on screen when the light flashes green and red? Is it normal?

What chip do you have? New HDD, or standard?

I've mostly heard this to be a dodgy chip installation.

Nothing shows on screen, it's a cheap chip apparently, but I've had it fitted for about a year and a half. It was doing it no so long ago and stopped, but it's now started up again.

I'd take it apart and look at the connections tbh. Sounds like a loose wire, is it switched? Might want to try bridging the switch too if it's there ^_^

Looks like it's time to invest in a new Xbox. It'll probably be totally fixable but your likely to keep getting problems here and there, get yourself a nice new Modded Crystal one.

I was thinking that, I've had nothing but trouble with it for the last few months. Is it possible to get a chipped with with the same bios and just swap the harddrives over (I've a 120 gig one in my current machine).

Should be ok, just a case of transferring the C: and E: of the new machines HD onto your HD.
