Viewtiful Joe - which PAL release?

I'm feeling like I should really give Joe a look at last; I've been meaning to for ages, and just not got around to it.

Both versions (PS2 and Cube) are ?14.99 at Play.com and elsewhere. But the PS2 has Dante, while the Cube would work with my Soul Calibur II stick (if its the sort of game that benefits from it; I honestly don't know if the game is playable on one).

Is there one I should go for over the other, or should I just make a random guess?

Dont use a stick - the game is designed for the GC controller and fits it perfectly.

The Gamecube version is the best of the two (not sure about what the PAL conversions are like), I think they removed the music video from the PAL GC one and knowing Sony's attitude towards Japanese audio it's possibly missing from the PS2 version too (which will mean you're missing a good unlockable)

Dante is superb and a completely different way to play the game as opposed to Joe, the PS2 version has some slowdown and framerate jitters when things get out of hand but it's minor. You can set the pad to a near exact match of the GC setup, the initial setting I found to be awkward.

I have both versions, if I want to play as Joe I play the GC version as it's flawless and things get a lot busier VFX wise - but Dante IS worth having if you love the game that much so the PS2 version is also needed.

Gave it a quick go last night. Why did no-one force me to play this before? Nice!

PAL GC version has 60Hz. I'd imagine the same is true of the PS2 release.

Saur, what does Joe whistle when you're 'holding' the bombs on the PS2 game?

Chances are they're in the PS2 version too.
In fact, the only thing that's preventing me from buying the PS2 version right now (it costs only ?20!) is that I don't know whether or not it has a 60Hz mode.

This, and the fact that Ace Combat 5 is out now, I've just bought a LCD monitor and I unfortunately don't have infinite cash.
