    Questions about DS before preorder.

Right, confirmation of the DS being region free has pretty much made my mind up, but I have a couple of questions I need answered (if possible) before making that purchase. I did search but didn't turn up anything concrete. Sorry for the n00b style questions but I've never imported a console before.

    1) What will I need to charge a US DS in the UK (e.g. GBA SP power adapter)?

    2) Will Nintendo DS consoles bought in different regions be able to link up for multiplayer?

    3) Will games bought in different regions work with each other in multiplayer?

I know that some things may still be unknown at this point, but I can remember being annoyed when I found out I couldn't link the Japanese version of Mario Kart (GBA) with the UK one. No point in being an early adopter if you can't play with your friends

    Thanks.

    1) You'll just need a stepdown. It comes with the charger, but it will be 110v, obviously.

    2) The consoles will, the games will no doubt be incompatible between regions.

    3) See above.

      Cool, thanks for that.

Seems like it would make sense to get a machine and some single player stuff now, but wait for a UK release for multiplayer games. Or buy everything now and buy second (UK) copies of games as and when needed. Aha, that sounds doable!

      Cheers,

As for the multiplayer stuff, each game only requires 1 cart as Nintendo have expressed on numerous occasions. I assume that unless consoles from different regions are incompatable (unlikely, or easily bypassed) then you could play mulitiplayer games.

This was an option with some GBA games - the problem is apart from some early games no one ever made use of this feature and the games that did only made available small subsets of the actual game.

I doubt that many games will give you this option on the DS (except for release titles) and it will only be 1 or 2 levels/game modes than can be shared in this way.

I'll be very happy if it turns out I'm wrong though.
