Whilst soldering a jump wire in my PS2, i was forced to remove a ribbon cable in order to access one of the soldering points. Naturally I assumed that, as on Playstation, Saturn etc, i could just plug the ribbon back in. I assumed wrong. It seems that when you remove it, you rip all its connections so it's unusable
.
Now I've had a look on a few sites, and I've noticed that Liksang are selling both a 5 pin and 7 pin ribbon cable for the PS2.
Here's a link to the 7 pin one (they both have the same picture):
My problem is, I can't really seem to tell which one I've broken and therefore need to replace, as I haven't got the right type of screwdriver to unscrew the little gold screws on the first board you see when you open the PS2.
I've got a piccy here of the one I've broken that I took on my phone a minute ago, I've reduced it to 320x240 so it's not so big to download, and added a handy arrow there to point to the ribbon in question.
So could any help me out here, and inform as to what ribbon cable i should buy and fit?
Cheers!
Joe
