    Scandisk in Win95

Is there a way of stopping scandisk loading up in DOS when running a win95 machine?

    Cheers

Do you mean starting it when booting up windows?

If so i dont think there is but you can set it up so when it scans the disk it doesnt prompt.

You need to edit the msdos.sys file on the root of the drive and set AutoScan=0.

      See http://www.onecomputerguy.com/install/msdos_sys.htm for more detail

It's a bad idea to disable it, though. FAT is a notoriously unreliable file system, and it tends to corrupt data very easily when you don't shut down your system properly. Scandisk is more or less here to plug the holes.

Managed to sort it out without having to turn it off. Was giving internal stock overflow errors before.

          Cheers lads.
