Of course - TFT's show a clearer image. I have a Toshiba 17" widescreen PC/TV combo screen and while its great quiality I feel that games like Halo2 always look better on the larger CRT screens for some reason - while I get a chripser image it seems to lack depth :-s. Anyway, all PC's games look much better and brighter through it.

I hate idiot siblings. Apparently he took dad up PC World to look at monitors for my 21st. Saw an Iiyama 10ms one for ?270, and both were apparently impressed by it. I was less so.

Mainly because I had already been down there to have a 'look' at them (and I wasn't too impressed with the PC World tripe), and I knew what this 10ms one was. It was the one I was going to buy when PC World were selling it for ?200. Even worse, genius brother decides to babble on about how it's a good deal, and that it isn't much cheaper on the net.

One look at Savastore and Aria later, I found it for under ?200. Including VAT. What a dingbat. What I'm hoping to do is get them to stump up some of the cash, I pay the rest, and go for the Hyundai that Stu has got, or the Viewsonic that Pete has got.

I want to know exatcly how spiffy they are for games and anime, chaps. Now excuse me, I have to buy my brother a really crappy birthday present in retaliation for nearly stuffing up my 21st (I think he'll like a copy of RE4 )

No complaints from me, though I've not yet watched a film or anime on it...played plenty of games tho HL2 looks as crisp as crisps, even when all the crap is goin on. Recommended!

Apologies for the awful pic, this CCD doesn't seem to like high contrast with low lighting. Anyway, tried to take one with the flash off. It's the 3dmark demo thing, and running 800x600. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it actually scaled nicely. Took some anime shots, but they had moire patterns for some reason so look a bit gash. Naruto looks class though, as does everything else. As with plasmas etc, you can see the artefacting of the various compression techniques more, but that's to be expected.

Anyone have any particular tft test they want me to put it through? Some sort of test card etc for checking this sort of thing?

Heh, my PC runs that demo at over 1500 FPS at one point. Pretty awesome to watch

I'll take a few snaps tomorrow...

Buying a DVI cable with a Viewsonic 912. The website, and Viewsonic say it doesn't come with one. Guess what

prolly a very daft question, but are there any LCD Monitors at all with VGA/DVI and SCART or Component inputs? but NO TV tuner built in?

I use an Acer 1731M which has DVI, Analog VGA, S-Video and composite inputs. I play my Xbox, GC and PS1 thru the S-Video, Dreamcast thru the VGA, PC thru the DVI and Pal N64 thru the composite input (not great, but it's a purple/clear PAL console so no RGB and no S-Video anyway). Obviously, the RGB to S-video is not optimal, but it means we don't have to deprive my missus and daughter from their soaps/Balamory.

Whn the wife and kids go to bed I play my RGB scart console (except the DC) on my 33" 4:3 CRT telly. I say except the DC, as it looks great on the LCD.

While 'm not sure if I have to wrap this thing back up again for my birthday, or if I can keep it is open, I can comment on the Viewsonic 912.

Oh dear god, teh win! I'm looking at is from my desk, as it's on the floor, and I can still see it. Seems to play Naruto alright.
