    PXE-EC1 Help!

I have recently been asked a question about a computer originally bought from PC World which has me stumped.

The computer is failing to boot and is coming up with the message: PXE-EC1: BaseCode ROM ID structure was not found A search on Google gives this message as meaning: UNDI boot module could not find the BaseCode ROM ID structure. If there is a BaseCode ROM image in the system, it has probably been corrupted. , but I do not have a clue what this means or how I can fix it.

    Any help most appreciated

What motherboard is it? Seems like a knackered BIOS.

You may have to reflash it.

Mate your computer is trying to boot off the network.

Look in the BIOS and under the ethernet settings disable the "network boot" option (or whatever they have written) for each of the ethernet ports.

Then, look at the boot priority (also in BIOS) and make sure that you have CD then HDD or FDD CD HDD, put anything else right at the end.

And then you can go and shag your uncle tom. (Not Tom Slater)
