    PCI Express Slot Question

I haven't brought a new PC for a while so not suprised to come across a term i've never heard of before. So is it a fancy name for AGP?

no but it will probably replace all PCI and AGP slots in the end. I believe there are only a few Intel boards that actually have them at the moment. ATi and nVidia already produce PCI Express cards.

I think Anandtech or maybe hardOCP had a good article on the ins and outs of it a while back.

Bloody PC's, Will my AGP card work?

If not at least theres a fair few cards that support PCI-E

So looks like my new free pc is on the way!

PCI-Express is the next stage in slot technology. In short, it allows quicker data transfer than AGP does.

You will need a new gfx card, your AGP card will not fit.

Althought at the moment it's not worth it. Wait for the Intel 925XE or nForce4 dual PCI-E slots at least (SLI gfx cards sweeeet).

This PC is the model i'm getting, seems to do everything i want. Looks like theres enough video cards available, especially as its not primarly been used for games.
