duddy - i think it 'may' download artwork if you have the original CD when it contacts gracenote to tag em, sometimes it seems to, others not!!

failing that it is an easy thing to just get the album thumbnail from amazon and add it yourself in edit tag mode

best website for cover art - http://www.cduniverse.com/productinf...cart=241114264

I just got an iPod photo myself, and have spent a couple of days getting my librarys cover art off the web. Its worth it though, looks lovely on the new colour screen.

The Sony EX71s are nice earphones but the cheap build quality lets them down. The left earphone stopped working on my set for no reason at all and I later discovered that it is not an unusual fault (see the reviews on Amazon etc).

I got some Shure E2C's as replacements and haven't looked back since. You can get them on Ebay for about ?35, the same RRP as the EX71s.

Just like to post a word of warning, don't buy the apple in-ear bud headphones as they are rather ****. I got mine with my Ipod at christmas and the max volume output has been gradually decreasing since I got them, so much so I can barely hear it on max volume setting. Another thing is the different buds you put in your ear don't seem to stick in (however this could be different for the next person). These are the ones:

Oh and I was wondering if you guys could help me with a problem, its the gap between songs on the Ipod, can you remove it at all on certain songs as it really messes up some of the sets and compilations I listen to making it hard to appreciate any mixing. I've looked everywhere in the manual and yet have found nothing. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

You can't remove it completely, but you can either

            1) choose within iTunes to combine multiple tracks into one as you copy them from the CD, or

            2) if you've just got a bunch of .mp3 files already and it's either too late or they didn't come from a CD, then MP3 Merger is a free program to turn them multiple mp3s into one.

For added bonus fun, label long stuff with a genre of "Books & Spoken", convert to AAC in iTunes, then go find the file and rename it from .m4a to .m4b - play it again so iTunes notices the change (you'll need to remove the reference to the old file) and it appears on your iPod as an Audiobook, which means it'll bookmark your position when you go listen to something else for a while.

I'd really like some new earphones for running, these ones just fall out, they even fall out when i'm just sitting down. Must be funny shaped ears or something.

              Any ideas?

I've had my ipod photo for over a week and I'm loving it. However, one thing is really pissing me off. The cover art feature. I've had the ipod crash on me once and all my coverart was corrupted, forcing me to completely delete all the tracks and put them back on the ipod again (thankfully it was only a couple of albums). However after a mammoth 'importing' session last night, I got an error message when transfering the songs to the ipod, and again all the coverart has vanished. This even applies to the coverart that was already on the ipod. I assume the coverart is stored in some kind of database on the ipod and the error has resulted in all the other pieces of art being corrupted.

Does anyone know of a way to solve this without deleting everything? To save space on my laptop I've deleted all the original imported files so it will take me ****ing ages to import them from CD again.

I'm quite tempted to just say bollocks to the whole cover art thing but then what's the point in having an ipod photo if I do that?

I dunno if this has already been covered, sorry if it has.

My iTunes library is finally bigger than my iPod so I'm going to have to start being a bit selective about what goes on and what doesn't. Is there a way to select/deselect tunes in a group, or do you really have to click all the little tick boxes individually? It would seem a horrific oversight on Apple's part if that was the case, but I can't find a way around it

Oooops, got it just as soon as I posted

                        God bless you, <Ctrl>

                        EDIT:

Actually, no I haven't got it. Curse you, <ctrl>.

                        Anybody..?

Spose you could just make playlists(groups) on the left handside and chuck those on,one by one. Just stop and start the playlist at songs you dont want on.
                          Hope that helps.

Rather than doing it on a file-by-file basis, what you really need to do is to start setting up playlists to do the work for you.

In the iPod tab of the options, you can choose to only sync some playlists rather than all files - only tick the playlists you want copied over.

You really want to play with 'smart' playlists rather than manual ones if you want to get this done quickly, though. At this point you probably want to start by just making one that everything but the tunes you've rated as 1-star, and choose that.

Personally, I've got the following playlists on the Pod at the mo:

"My Top Rated", which I've edited to be everything without limit that has been rated as 5 stars

"Philosopher's Stone", just my audiobook of Harry Potter

"Purchased Music", i.e. the whole two tunes I've got from ITMS

"Recently Added", everything less than 2 weeks old

"No Books Or Scores", what it says - everything from the 'main' section of my library

Next up for me is to start reducing the last one, so I can put some more film stuff back on. I'm thinking a "everything I've yet to listen to" section (i.e. played = 0) would be good, too.

                            Comment

Aye, playlists was the only way I could think of to do it. Oh well, just have to go that way, although it seems a most unsatisfactory to do it TBH (would be much easier if you could just select and deselect albums... well, it would be for me, anyway). Why the hell can't you just select/deselect all highlighted?

I can't help but feel like I'm missing the point of it, although my 100+ playlists would attest otherwise. Bloody Apple

                              Cheers anyway

Why not just drag all highlighted to a new playlist? Every track on your Pod is still accessible through the 'artists', 'albums' and 'genres' views, as well as the playlists anyway, so you're not losing anything.

Playlists are as much about easily managing what goes on the Pod as they are about their stated function of a literal list of songs to play one after the other.
