yeah it's a bit annoying like that, but i like it better than winamp's 'remove dupes' option as it's more lenient. winamp only removes identical copies (like if you've added a song twice) but i have lots of versions of the some songs at different bitrates from different sources so it's good to just see them all and then check each one to remove the crap ones.

btw i'm considering trading my 20gb colour in for a 30gb video. i only need to add ?25-odd on top of the trade-in value

I've been really careful with mine, and the back is still absolutely as new. The front is the problem, I think it's impossible to remove finger prints without scratching it, and I used a super soft microfibre polishing cloth too.

I read Apple were using a much thinner layer of laquer on the 5Gs than they did on the 4Gs, and I can well believe it. Seems like a weird thing to do, especially for a portable device. Still, perhaps such is the price of beauty. Maybe they'll fix it on the 6G.

BTW, you'll be wanting this to feed it with videos - http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/iPod/

Yeah i've been using that videora in preperation to getting it. Doesn't seem to like wmv files though.

damn i thought that, as they've been recalling nanos, the video ipods would be sorted in this respect. apparently not.

what of those solutions you put on to protect ipods from scratches? dunno if they'll work with the newer thin-lacquered ones

I tried one of the iPod cleaning solutions (I forget the name) on my 4G and it made the scratches 10x worse.

Maybe they're better now.. I may give one a try sometime. Have nothing to lose as mine is already massively scratched!

My advice - wear very soft gloves when using your iPod at all times. This will mean no finger prints and so no cleaning and so no scratches!

jus got back from the official apople store in New York and could not help my self so i brought a 4 GB Ipod Nano (white) and a 60 GB Ipod 5G (black). Set me back a bit but the exchange rate knocked 50 quid off the 60 gb pod and like 70 quid off the nano! woo hoo! Anyways, The store is actually a really nice place and is like stepping into another world of high tech cool gadgetry and filled with a lod of differnt set ups. I could get myself a case for the 60 Gb as the guy at the store said they aint made one yet. Is there anywhere on line that you can buy a adecent one? as the beeswax is prone to scratches. Alsois there a decent remote for the ipod 60 gig? as im sick of pulling the pod out to change tracks. Grrr..............

Best case I got for my mini came from them and just about to get one for the nano. They haven't got the 60Gb ones yet but I'm sure they will be making them. Mail 'em and see what they've got to say...

The 5G iPod comes with a case, so there's no need to buy another one.

You guys may want to check something out from a company called Martin Fields. I ended up scratching my 5th gen by simply taking the protective plastic off, not a good sign when you've just spent ?200+.

I put one of the Martin Fields overlays on it and most people wouldn't guess it was there at all; the plastic is much tougher than that of the iPod itself and fingerprints and smudges wipe off very easily. It's a bit tricky to put on correctly, and is a dust magnet if you're not careful. Best of all though, it hides any existing scratches on the iPod's face.

I doubt there are any legal places to get free music videos. I have come across a torrent site which specialises in video (music videos included) formatted for the iPod, but it's very easy to convert your own anyway.

You can free movie trailers in iPod format from Apple, if that's of any use.

Weird, I haven't had that problem. Does it happen on every video file?

I thought the maximum bit rate for audio in video was 160kbps? That's what I use for all mine and I've not had a problem at all.
