    Playing imports on XBox Live

    Just wondering.

My friend at work has imported MKeception and SVC:Chaos, both US versions

He says deception runs perfectly on live, with no lag at all.

I read somewhere (probably on the net) that if you play a US game, it connects to US Live servers, and a Jap game to Jap servers.

Is this true? I'd be interested in importing live versions of games if this wasn't the case, so could it be that a US/Jap game played in the UK connects to the UK xbox live servers?

There are no 'servers', both games run a peer to peer connection so you'll connected with whoever you're playing against. As far as i know, only EA games have certain servers to use. I'm suprised your friend isn't getting any lag as i doubt many Brits are playing them.

Don't forget you'll need an US Xbox to play US games (unless it's chipped then you'll need to change the region).

I play US Live games on US Xbox in the UK and never had any major lag issues.

Just to add to what Hitcher says some games are region free - see the sticky thread in this forum.

'tis a shame noone's made a region-changing program (like the way enigmah does pal/ntsc). while i'm not averse to using configmagic, it's a right pain to have to unlock the hdd, change the region and relock then turn off and turn the chip off

          we can but dream eh
