wattage is just a maximum output value, the ps2 will draw what it needs which will be far less than that.

My step down will no longer work. Any ideas as to why its just given up on me?

apparently the new PS2 only drains 45w, suggest you get a cheap 100w one from malin or similar.

I thought the new design PS2 didn't need a stepdown, as its transformer is multi-voltage?

Get a u.k PS2 Power cable-they're cheap on e-bay. The new Slimlne ps2s have an external power source which takes all types of power cables.

good point, it's a normal 2 pin connector used for many home stereo's (and the Xbox) can't be more than couple quid from maplin or Woolworths etc.
