UK remote on the U.S. PS TWO?

I just bought the new PS TWO and I think its great. I'm thinking of buying a U.S. PS TWO from Videogamesplus.com but I was wondering can I use the UK remote on the U.S. PS TWO?

Alternatively you could just get it chipped

You can swap a US an Euro DVD remote with no problems. You cannot use a japanese remote though as it has a slightly different button layout.
