15 pin game port to USB or serial port??

I just set my new PC up ready for some MAME crazyness but alas, my joypad has a 15 pin game port connector and my new PC doesnt support this.

Is there an adapter I could get to be able to use this pad with my new PC?

I was thinking some sort of USB / Serial port connector....

I've trawled through the usual sites - dabs, maplin, etc without any luck.

    Any ideas?

    ta.

I might pop in the maplins tomorrow and get the cheapy, better than replacing my force feedback joystick

      Nice one - cheers.

Looks like it's the bottom one for me. I think you would lose the ffeedback for yours though.

Bugger, it didn't work at all on any of the settings, think i'll ebay my Force Feedback Pro to help fund a replacement.

Two things you could do first...

          1) Check the motherboard manual as a number of them will have a gamport/midi header but the extender card isn't fitted (should cost about a fiver).

          2) Bit more tricky to do but also as cheap, why not buy a cheap PCI sound card that has the 15 pin D socket on it and then just disable the sound card? If you have onboard sound then disable that (unless it's really good), dabs sell a good card for around 14 quid.

Force feedback needs the MIDI data lines which Gameport > USB drivers won't support.

Thanks for the advice MD, the mobo doesn't have the connector. I've tried my old PCI soundblaster card with the audio features disabled and there seems to be a clash at it won't see my onboard sound with the card installed. I'll probably end up disabling the onboard sound and drop the card back in.

Good to know why the force feedback doesn't work with teh converters, strange its doesn't mention it on the box!
