    Coin Mech

    Lo,

I'm after a con mech for my cabinet, I have one in there at the moment, but it doesn't work, and I aint got a scooby what to look at to get it working.

Can anyone give me some advice on what to look out for when looking for a new one.

    Cheers

A coin mech consists of two parts, the coin mech itself and the credit board. Most of the time the mechs do work fine, just sometimes a power line gets removed. Sometimes all they need is a clean...

There should be a cable from the mech to the credit board, make sure this is tightly connected and at minimum there should be three wires going from the credit board, a votage (sometimes two), ground and coin 1.

Take a 10p, 20p, 50p and a quid and feed it through the machine while it's switched on and tell me what it does.

Take some pictures of the mech and an model numbers and I'll tell you how to get it working.

Unless your machine is really old or has been in storage for ages it should recognise the 4 main UK coins. The only two coins that it will have problems with, will be the 50p and the 10p but 50p is the most likely. Getting a mech reprogrammed will be around 20 to 30 quid.

Getting a *new* mech is fairly expensive and you should only do this if your really going to use it to make money, although you can get them second hand cheap, I have a few lying around.
