    Buying xbox from Asia

hey. My mother is going to pakistan next month, and because everythings cheaper there i was wondering if she could buy and xbox, and play it back over here in the UK. I have read your faq's etc. thoroughly and have a pretty good idea of evrything i need to know, (i think). WE have all failry modern tv's and pretty certain they run at 60Hz.

The votage. I know the voltage in the UK is 240 volts, and read about the step down convertors?! and, i odnt know what the voltage is in pakistan. MY parents came from pakistan, and my dad thinks that it is 240 volts, but im not sure because he might just think they are all the same in all regions, so i just want to research evertyhing so i dont make a wrong move in the decision of buying my xbox for as cheap as possible.

Also. im not 100% i know everything i need to know about PAL and HTSC. more info on this would be useful and all your information taht has been outputted by you will be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Pakistan uses 220V at 50Hz and is PAL - B/G so means you could use an xbox bought there here. However given the Microsoft and Nintendo are not know for releasing machine officially in a lot of countries are you sure you can buy a Xbox cheaper then you can in the UK? O_o

Yeah it is cheaper i have worked it out. so this is pretty godd then, but wouldnt my xob over-heat running at 20V below the required volt in UK? also, the only other problem will be thta i will need a three pin plug cos' over there they only have 2.

Well they are bound to have xbox's over there, but what does it matter if it's not official or not, beacuse if they have almost an identical system to us, there ognna be needing the same version of PAL xbox's to be able to oplay xbox's over there...aren't they?

If it hasnt been released there officially, I would place a bet on it being more expensive than it would if you just bought one in the shops in the UK..

              Its only ?100!!

Britian uses 220V, it used to be 240V but there dropped it to match the rest of Europe. For the vat majority of things (like consoles) the 20V doesn't matter.

Regarding Xbox live you just have to select the UK region as the machine will play PAL games anyway.
