Hey guys,
I have had BTbroadband for nearly 2 years now, and ever since the day I got it have had no problems. From the start, it has been connected through my router (Speedtouch 530) to my laptop & Xbox. In all that time I have never had a connection problem, both Xbox & Laptop have all been fine.
Then about a week ago, the thing started acting up. Every 10 seconds or so you'd hear the DU-DU noise when XP disconnects external hardware, and the router would become disconnected. Then become visable again. Then disconnect etc etc. Obviously this loses my connection to both Live and my PC, so is causing some frustration.
I've been and downloaded the patch from the Routers website, but to no avail. I figured it may be something to do with SP2 so uninstalled that and it sort of worked for a while but quickly then did it again.
So last night I did a clean install of my PC (ahh lovely and fast) and turned off auto-updates. All was fine until I put in Media Player 10, and after a restart it happened again. There are no Windows Updates to refer to this problem, and I can't find any information on the web about it. But I know it is not limited to me, as a customer was in my shop explaining that he had a very similar problem.
So I did a 'system restore' to before WMP10 was installed, and all is working great FOR NOW. So the point of this thread is for 2 reasons:
1) If you are having the same problem try taking off WMP10
&
2) Does anybody know a solution to the problem and what exactly causes it?
Cheers!
