    Uninstalling Outlook

I ditched outlook 2003 from my 2nd PC (taking all internet related crap off the machine), but realised afterwards I had one or two important emails in there. Will Outlook have done some scorched-earth uninstall and deleted the emails, or will they still be knocking about somewhere, perhaps as .eml files?

And no, I don't use Outlook on my net machine, I've started using Thunderbird which is lovely.

Did the .pst file(s) get deleted too?

Does Outlook make a .pst on its own accord, or do you still have to create one yourself? Either way I haven't checked for one - they can only be opened in Outlook can't they?

If it wasn't connecting to an exchange server then yes, PSTs are the standard file that it dumps mail into that's stored locally on your system.

It usually puts it somewhere like c:\documents and settings\your name\application data

You'll be able to recover the file, it's not deleted by the uninstaller but I dunno if you can import stuff from it using Thunderbird.

Cool, I'll reinstall outlook, see if I can get my mails back, then sack it off again.

          Cheers.

Cool, you *may* need to import or re-add the pst but that's pretty painless. You can do it from the accounts section and it may even default to the folder where windows hides them in the first place.
