    playing xbox on LAN

I was round a friends house and we had 2 xbox's and we tried to link it up to play halo 2 with 2 xbobx's, 2 tv's and 2 copies of halo. At the back of the xbox we plugged in a blue cable and linked it straight into the other ebox and had everything set up, but it didnt work. I came up with a theory that maybe its not working cos each xbox has to be linked up to a router. Why didnt this work?

Cheers for thsoe of you that help.

If I recall correctly, for a straight X-Box <-> X-Box connection, you need a Crossover Cable (X-Over), and not just any old networking cable lying around. When you purchase it, it should have it marked on the cable somewhere (I normally find it on the end of one of the connectors).

you can use a lan hub and individual patch cables (the type which sounds like the type you were using at that time) for each X-Box to produce the same effect, but that's only needed if you're working with more than two X-Boxes.
