    USB printer connecting to PC without USB ports

    Right, I have a laserjet 1010 here that only has a single port - USB. It needs to connect to a PC via a parallel cable. I've looked everywhere on the 'net and I cannot find a cable that can solve this - yet you can buy a cable that will convert a Parallel printer to a USB port on your PC.

    Do such cables even exist?

    PC\ Parallel -> Printer\USB

    Any ideas? I feel really cheeky asking this because it is work related, so please don't go out of your way to help! Then I'd feel real guilty

    I think your only chance (though its hardly a major problem in most cases) is just to buy a USB card for a spare PCI slot. They don't run to an awful lot, ?20 or so.

      If its for work I am sure they will spend the ?20, just explain most hardware uses USB nowadays, what company do you work for where they have PC's without USB :0

      Is it the Council or British Railways by any chance

        They're about two quid at www.ebuyer.co.uk, not even ?20 at pcworld

          Yep, council

          Buying a usb port seems to be the solution, so thanks for your help

            I wonder why the Council and Railways are the only place where technology seems to be arcane and ancient.

                possibly, they are mostly council funded.
