    Windows 95/98 games on XP

I have recently bought Daytona USA and Sega Rally 1.

Both games are made for windows 95/98.

They won't run properly, even if I set the compatibility to 95 or 98.

Anyone know if there is a way to sort this, some utility etc???

If I say 'buy a Saturn', will you hate me?

Other than compatibility mode, I've no idea, sorry.

They don't run, unless through virtual machine/emulation.

      Buy a Saturn?

edit: They could probably be patched, I don't think they do anything 'special', probably some incompatibility with modern DX or Windows version checks. I do remember copying the files over to a Windows 2k machine and Sega Rally running OK but I've never looked into it tbh.

        Looks like its mission impossible.

It's a shame, because Sega Rally has a LAN mode, which would of been cool.

You can run them through virtual machine; install Windows 9x on it and away you go. A VM will have network access so you're laughing really (you'll need a decent PC for this though...). I think WINE runs 'em too, Linux based Windows emulator.

What do you mean they don't run properly, what happens?

The games have corrupted graphics and the frame-rate stutters all the time.

              Basically, they are unplayable.

I will be downloading Virtual Machine, and see if that works!
