    Is the new PSTwo 'faulty'?

I was chatting to a guy in Game on saturday and he said that they had already had 2 dozen returned in the first week! Anyone else heard of them being generally faulty?
Don't look at me, I'm irrelevant.

Maybe people thought it was the new Playstation and were disappointed to find it was a PS2

Seriously though, first i've heard of it. A friend of mine works in GAME, I'll ask him.

I have heard also of a lot of faults arising with this new model - it's manufacture cost is less than $20US, that might have something to do with it

Many have been returned genuinely faulty to the GAME I work at and the machine seems to leave tiny little marks on all games.

No talk yet of an official fault as of yet, but there is something definitely wrong with it.

My Gradius V disc has developed the circular scratches already, is there anything to be done about this, I was kinda under the impression that for better or worse that's just what the PS2 does...

Seems the coils or summit that power the laser get too hot and affects the laser. This is all due to too much voltage apparently. But im no expert.

And no it shouldnt mark the discs, if it does take it back and get a new game too

If it's flip-top, it'll probably mark the games due to muppets pressing the disk in, and missing and scratching it everywhere.

Take the pstwo back if you can. And then say you want the game again too cos the pstwo ruined it

Imo the PSTwo is really cheap and not very cheerful, like some cheap HK fake.

When it was first announced I thought it would be Sony's way of getting a ?50 console on to the market. What we have though is a total piss-take.

It amazes me that some people are excited about it.

like a previous member said, some PStwo's have voltage problems that can actually cause the laser lense to deform slightly due to high heat. Guess this is one way to make players take a break from gaming after 45 mins. =p

I don't know whether to go ahead and buy one anyway... I guess given the price of it compared to a second hand modded original, I couldn't go TOO far wrong.

Dammit Sony, why make this so hard all the time? What does everyone here think I should do?
