credit cards and xbox live starter kit

okay, yeah, it's another live question, as if there weren't enough of those...
anyway, i've got everything set up and the box talks to the net via my pc. all's good. the problem is, i don't have (or want, or need) a credit card - new ways to get into debt have never really called out to me. i know you need a credit card to use a two-month live trial (so they can, they hope, carry on billing you after the trial's up and you've been bitten by the live bug), but i was wondering if anyone who's bought the 12-month voucher/headset starter kit noticed whether it asked for visa/mastercard/amex card details? (i'd be fine using switch) - i'd happily put down ?40 for a year's live if not.

i'd love to play online and am feeling a bit cheated not being able to play halo 2, outrun 2 etc for want of a bloody credit card, but i really, really don't want one... thanks in advance

I think you need a CC although I've never seen one of those 12 month voucher things.

IIRC you need details so they can continue your subs (sneekily of course)

Of course this can be changed in the dashboard, but you do need card details regardless

It doesn't have to be a credit card - debit cards work fine. With the two month trial subs, too.

yep i used my visa debit card and worked fine

just get a cc from your bank. mine from hsbc is interest-free as long as i pay the balance off within the month, and i've had it for over 2 years now (got it to use paypal way back when, before they allowed debit cards) and haven't paid a penny in interest

stay on top of your finances and you'll have no problems

Get a CC, use it to set up Live and cut it up.
