First a hello to all! Just discovered these boards an hour ago and have learned a great deal and answered a lot of questions. But not everything I need to know
I lived in the US for a couple of years and while there I connected my Xbox to my Sony CRT HDTV (big monster of a thing with an x in the model number) the jump from composite/s-video was immense and then also the games that supported 720p - 1080 etc were truly spectacular. Basically I'd like to get back to, or close to that level of PQ/IQ again.
Now nearly all the Plasma and Rear Projection sets I see seem to support Pro scan and have atleast one set of Component inputs, but with one exception they never mention HDTV or the relevant modes.
So I could really do with a hand chosing a new screen. Preferably 40"+, I like Rear Projection, but that is a preference, not a requirement. Budget is anything up to ?2000 and brands that seem to offer the best/better hardware from experience are Toshiba, Samsung and Panasonic. Pro Scan is essential, 2-3 componenet inputs would be nice and obviously support for 480p and upwards would be ideal.
The item I am considering at the moment is a new model from a new Toshiba HDMI range. It seems these sets have the Pro Scan and Component boxes checked and also support the new HDMI plugs for future proofing and I believe in supporting HDTV will also have the video modes down.
It is for sale here:

News article here:

So any advice on specific hardware, other options from the one above? Or am I just dreaming, and should I just find a good, big Pro Scan set and be happy?
Thank you for reading, sorry it was a long one and thanks in advance for any help.
Regards,
Ryan
