Lik-Sang - Import tax/duty

Hi,

I've pre-ordered a DS from Lik-Sang, and am wondering whether they mark down the price on the front of the package in order to avoid these charges. I've seen in other threads that Play-Asia do this as a matter of course, but with Lik-Sang you have to request it.

Is this right? I remember getting stung for tax/duty when I ordered my PannyQ from Lik-Sang, and would love to avoid paying our government even more money than I have to this time!

Yeah you have to ask Lik Sang to mark stuff down. However if your buying something worth a fair bit even if they do mark it down your still likely to be hit by import duty.

Generally the rule is

By airmail-no tax/duty

By courier-tax/duty

There are some exceptions to both although usually thats the way it goes

I ordered some JPN DC games from Play-Asia via TNT courier and got stung ?30 for import tax, so don't think that you'll always be OK with Play-Asia.

I guess I just risk it as I did with the Panny Q. I've gone for the airmail option though rather than those couriers. DAMN THEM AND THEIR ABITRARY HANDLING FEES!!

Yeah you're best off with airmail for avoiding customs tbh.
