    Ghost Aerial picture on Xbox

    Ok.

I have a basic scart block plugged in to AV1 on me TV.

In this i have 2 scarts, one for xbox and 1 for DVD player.

When i turn on the xbox, in the background i can see what appears to be a normal terrestrial channels picture scrolling in the background.

If i unplug the Aerial from the TV, the scrolling 'ghost' image turns into static, just like what would happen if i unplugged the aerial watching tele as normal.

What i want to know is how i get rid of it, it's very distracting and spoils the image, especially on Halo 2 ( Fiona Phillips was scrolling in the background this morning and I attempted to shoot the cow in the head >_<).

I can't remember (i'm certainly sure it didn't) if the DVD player has the same issue.

Also the scart lead is the standard packaged one.

    Help!

    Thanks.

Sounds like bad shielding somewhere along the line. If you can get hold of one try a magnetically shielded scart cable. It's possible that you're getting cross interference in the set itself, but far more likely to be cables.

Some TVs don't turn off the reciever correctly and you get a ghost image of the channel you were on before you pressed the AV button but there are two things you can do.

1 - If you have a Megadrive or SNES then wire this up via RF, tune it in then turn it on without a cartridge in and you will get a black picture which means that with AV will not have ghosting.

2 - Buy an Xbox RGB SCART lead as this will set the signals correctly on pins 8 and 16 and should turn off the ghosting as it will tell the TV that there is an AV device connected rather then go into TV mode. Even if your TV doesn't support RGB it will display a composite picture, if it doesn't then unsoldering pin 8 on the SCART lead and soldering a wire between pin 8 to pins 21 and 17 should solve the problem.

Both my Toshiba and Sanyo tellies do this.. sorted now I have Sky but I learnt to begrudgingly live with it.

Just read you rpost fully - once I unplugged the RF lead everything was OK... Doesn't seem the same for you... TV still under warranty?
