n64/pal how to play ntsc games?

Hi All

OK, so I keep on hearing about Sin & Punishment now what is the easiest way of making my PAL n64 able to take US/JAP games?

I would only be expecting to get 2 or 3 imports maximum, as I nearly have all the games I want on PAL format.

You want to get a passport plus 3 import adaptor cart. It works fine with S+P and is easy to use. Plus they are quite reasonably priced (?15-20).

You may be as well getting a Jap/US N64, I got mine for only ?25. Its much less hassle than using a Passport adaptor.

Plus I could never get my Passport 3 to run S+P even after A LOT of help from fellow forumites.

Nothing. Well, I assume nothing. As Jpn games work on a US machine by just removing a couple of tabs, I guess you should be able to just plug 'n' play on a Jpn machine with US carts.

You just need to melt/cut the tabs where the cart plugs into the 64. Try to plug a cart in and the bits of plastic stopping you need to be removed.

I have a USA 64 and I melted away the write protection tabs on the console so now S+P works on it too.

I assume its the same in reverse for a Jap machine.

Try somewhere like Lik-sang as they should do them.

It should work fine on a US N64, you just need to use a US game as the boot cart instead of a PAL one.

Many many moans ago, when I went to Tottenham Court Road to buy my imported n64 the chap that "modded" mine just whacked the tabs out with a large screwdriver... so yes it works. Sold it ages ago though...

Now have a brand new nice blue (no s-vhs ft: though) PAL n64 from toys r us with Mario 64 paid just ?25.
