    Platinum Cubes from Lik-Sang

I'm trying to get a hold of a new Platinum Cube, but I understand models made after May 2004 are now missing the Digital out port needed for component hookup (How's that for embracing new technology!)

I've mailed L-Sang directly, twice, to see if the models they stock have digi out but as many will know they're not always the fastest at responding.

So does anyone have any idea if they do, anyone ordered recently or know someone who does they could ask please?

    Cheers,

Well, I'm guessing he wants an NTSC one from his original post-as far as I know Gamestation only sell PAL stuff.

        Yeah, what Geezer said.

All my games are USA. Any new games I get will always be imports also. I do like Lik-Sang, they've always been good in the past, and would be nice to avoid the eBay route too

        Thanks for the replies gents,

Try Play-Asia, I asked the same question when i brought my spice cube a few months ago. They said they had got hold of some older stock with the port. There very goodwith the technical questions.

Cheers Ginger Tosser Mailed Play Asia about their US/JPN platinum consoles. Hard to keep loyalty to Lik-Sang when they aren't talking to me.

And thanks again Del Boy, I really don't want a UK machine, the hassle of using Freeloader for every single game I own far outweighs the trouble of mailing a couple of companies to get the console I want and prices are so close as to not be an issue.

Lol, good lord. Just got a reply from Play-Asia, sadly out of stock of the Digital Out consoles right now.

30 minute response time is just a bit good tho, I can see me ordering from these guys a lot in the future!

                  Play-asia are indeed well snappy.

What's the deal over component cable anyway, does it give a miles better picture or something? Do PAL consoles actually do it too?

I have to admit the customer feedback from PA is better than LS, but both are reliable suppliers.

You could try YesAsia, just got a controller from them. They have a US and a Global site, but the US site (where the item was) didn't ship to the UK so i emailed and asked them about it, got a prompt (ish) reply and arranged it via email instead.

And they marked it down to $12

Its nice to see excellent service from half way round the world.

Warrior: Saurians cube scart cables give the best picture i've seen out of any console.

Just got a reply from L-Sang, seems their current stock is indeed with Digital Out, order placed.

The deal for me with the Component cable is I have a new HDTV, supports 480i/p 720p, 1080i, so between my Xbox and Cube I can genuinely put those features to good use.

Ah cool, slowly but surely i'm piecing together knowledge about getting good pictures from consoles!

I don't want to start a new topic and was wondering if someone would answer a quick and probably simple question...

Can any monitors play dreamcast games through a VGA cable? A bit off track but hopefully pretty simple.

From my experience Interlaced Component looks noticeably, but not hugely, sharper than RGB SCART. Progressive Component is even better.

PAL consoles will output Component video as far as I know, but obviously the games don't support Progressive so it's not used to its full potential.
