Where to get an NTSC Xbox?

I'm looking to get an NTSC Xbox as I don't want to have to mod a PAL machine as I'll be using it for LIVE.

Wherte is the best place to get one of these, ideally without getting shafted for import tax?

Any help is appreciated.

you could get a PAL xbox and get it chipped to play imports or just get one thats chipped alreadly,this will set you back around 150-160 quid but it'll be from the uk so no tax

Presume you are wanting an unmodded US machine so you can use Live without any worries and still have prog scan?

I can only advise to just order one and pay the tax. If they mark it down, it's not insured to the full value.

www.premodded.co.uk and get a softmodded one that'll work out of the box without a mod chip. I think that's what jman meant Charles

If this is his first xbox then play-asia or ebgames.com will do the job depending on whether its a jap/asian/us NTSC xbox he wants

I think you can but you need a certain program

I have been importing consoles for people on here, Ebay and RLLMUk for quite a while now, as quite honestly it's very hard to find a reliable place to import consoles from, especially US consoles, and to find somewhere with a 'normal' shipping rate and very good prices.

So PM me if you'd like me to import a US XBox for you-it would take 3 days from when sent, and AFAIK EB are doing a console bundle at the moment for no more than the usual price (with 3 or so average games..but better than nothing!)

You can still change the region regardless; I've done this 'cos I've been playing Phantom Dust online, which is Japanese only. I switched it back to upload some scores on RBR (which is PAL region encoded ) and went on Live shortly after.

I don't have a PAL xbox as to date, none of the games have interested me (Halo? Whats the fuss about?!)

The chance to play SVC Chaos, DOA Ultimate and 3rd Strike online has tempted me.

I'll not be playing copied games, roms or anything else that requires a modded machine. I'd also be gutted if I got banned as I'm primarily buying this for LIVE only.
