    RGB output problem :p

Here's a puzzle for anyone that can help!:
Just trying out a RGB ps2 connection on a Philips Widescreen T.V via rgb scart cable (have checked the t.v,ps2 and cable (thinks it's a blaze cable) both are RGB compliant, take and recieve properly on other Tv's etc).
Basically I am unable to get a rgb picture from the T.v only a composite signal? 0_o
Could this have something to do with more or less voltage needed from one of the scart pin connections for it to output the signal?
    Thanks in advance!
(forgot to add I can get a RGB picture from a DVD player tested on the T.V)

I bought a PS2 cable which said RGB on the box a few months back and ended up chucking it as it would only give a composite signal. Where did you get the cable from?

Does your tv have a RGB "mode" you have to flip into from that AV in?

That's very, very uncommon on modern TVs. I think you're right, it sounds like a voltage problem. Saurian will know for sure.

Can't remember but it's definitely a Rgb cable works fine on another t.v .

Nope went through all the options...

yeah he's probly gonna cuss me for asking such a minor question! ^_^ .
I'm guesing a voltage problem would also affect the scart box I'm using, tried switching rgb on and off picture stayed the same.
Only other option is the T.V dosn't take proper RGB, but as stated in the instruction and these specs (Ext1): http://www.online-search.co.uk/Philips-28PW6618-05.htm it should do. Ah well not to bothered just wanted to see what all the fuss about 16:9 gaming was about, 4:3 still seems best though

Just a thought, but the video output hasn't been changed to component in the PS2 configuration menu has it?

I doubt that's the problem; you still get a signal in that case, just a very green one. If Optimus is only seeing composite, then it definitely sounds like a voltage switching thing.

You don't need RGB for 16:9, just choose 16:9 or wide or whatever the mode is called on your TV.

When you open the scart you should have voltage (wire) going to pin 8 and 16, and a resistor linking the two together, now which pin is the wire going to, pin 8 or 16??

Ollie it's a voltage problem - those RGB cables from Blaze usually have the voltage for pin 8 and pin 16 the wrong way round. A lot of TVs will switch over correctly anyway but some dont - bring it round to me tonight and I'll sort it, and show you some of that V-Joe 2 Heroness. All the Nintendo style RGB cables from places like Play Asia have the same problem as you've described (I get them in to do N64 mods and they ALWAYS have this fault), these must all come from the same place.
