Just Flashed Xbox&Lost Everything Apart From MS Dash

    Hi,
being the silly bugger I'am I think I have flashed my Executer 2.3b chip with the incorrect bios.Basically now when I power up the console I'am taken to the original MS dash and can't go anywhere else.Obviously I can't even connect via ftp now.
I have no idea how to get everything up and running again.I'am guessing that I need some kind of auto installer disc but really don't what I should be looking for(I'am in new territory here).Would running such a disc whipe the entire contents of my HDD which would mean I lost all the apps ect that I have already installed on it.
    HELP anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

Yeah, I think you'd lose your current apps and games. The auto installer discs do come with a lot of the usual programs though. Do you have broadband? The discs are quite a big download...

      Hi fella,
      thanks for the reply,****e!!!
I've still only got a crap dial up connection here(no broadband until next year sometime).
Can anyone here supply me with an auto installer disc,I would happily meet all the costs involved ect.

I can get the disc for you. I've got some stuff I've sold to post anyway. Is there no way you can reflash the chip without getting the installer to do it for you?

It sounds as if your original bios was booting from e: or f: and the one you have flashed is trying to boot from C:. Use the install disk (when you get it) to reflash the bios *only* and all your original files will remain intact.
You will need to know where your alternative dash is installed and if your HD is larger than 137Gb make sure the BIOS is LBA48 compatible and is the correct type for your partition type.

            Hi mate,
that would be bloody brill of you if you could get hold of an installer disc for me,really can't thankyou enough.Just had a look around for info on these discs and the bloody things are like 150 megs + large, downloading these is an absolute impossibility for me.I'll pm you over my addy details.
Basically my Xbox knowledge goes as far as ftp'ing stuff across to the hardrive and thats it.This was the 1st time I had ever attempted to flash the bios and true to form for me it ends in total disaster.I really don't know how I would be able to flash the bios when i can't even get past the MS dash.
As far as I can recall the bios was held in the C drive although,I could be wrong.
            Thanks for the help fella's.

You've not lost anything, you've just flashed with a bios that is looking to the wrong partition for your dashboard's .xbe file.

What bios did you flash it with?

                Hi,
I flashed it with the lastest Evox M8plus multi bios.I have no idea what went wrong. This bios should work fine on the Executer 2.3b?
Is it as everyone else as suggested a case of of getting an installer disc?
                Cheers famitsu1

Were you using a large HD?

                    Hi,
nah,my HD is 120GB.I've got no idea what I'am doing and at this moment I could quite happily chuck the thing out of the window.
How would I go about flashing the bios again after using an installer disc?
                    Ta Simon

You've obviously flashed it with a bios that looks to C: for your dashboard (evoxdash.xbe) and the dash file is on F:

You need a bios that looks to F:

To be honest mate, if your not exactly sure what your about to do then you should never flash your chip, you could have messed it up completely. Also, you probably didnt need to flash it, the new bios's are mainly for the new board revisions, they have the same features as the older ones.

Are you sure you can't still ftp in??

I thought you could as long as the chip was on??

How did we used to ftp in before the days of slayer?? It was a while ago but I am sure you had to ftp into a stock drive and add evox etc. manually whilst the original dash was in place.

Try it, ftp in the move the files from F:\ that you need onto C:\ so you can at least boot and put the M8 bios back on.

If you want me to put an iso of slayers on an ftp for you I can, I am sure it is only 80 odd meg when rared up.

You need evo-x to be running before you can ftp, it's evo-x that sets the ip etc for you to ftp into

                              Hi,
thanks everyone for the continuing help and advice, its really welcome and appreciated.
Basically as G-Funk says I believe you need Evo-X up and running on the console so enabling you to FTP to the console,I don't know of any other way to communicate with the thing(I'am a total newbie).Sods law I'am totally unable to get past the MS dash,so effectively my console is acting like an unchipped machine at the mo.
I've tried switching manually from bank 1 to bank 2 on the actual chip thinking that an alternative bios maybe there and able to boot to Evo-X but no joy.Plus as I mentioned before i don't have the means(Dialup only connection thanks to living in deepest technically backwards West Wales)to actually obtain an installer disc to try out for myself.
That spare copy of Evo-X 2.6 installer sounds promising Yoshimax, bleeding kind of you to offer, can I take you up on your offer,I'll pm you now.
If this episode as taught me anything its taught me to respect the old saying of if it ain't broke don't fix it.
                              Thanks everyone.
