I'm looking for programs that attach to Firefox to prevent these. Nothing to do with Windows - Which I highly doubt would include a program within SP2 specifically designed to help a browser competitor of Microsoft's. I don't think it's spyware either, because some sites use these pop-ups (d'n'b arena, Eurogamer etc.) and others don't.

Yes indeed, I was being facetious.

I know. It was a slightly bad tempered reply. Apologies.

No, not at all. Regarding the popups though, will it not be a matter of time before the Firefox dev team adapt the code to compensate? Prior to SP2, I noted that the odd popup was starting to beat circumvent other blockers too, like the Google bar.

Anyone tried Maxthon? It does all what Mozilla Firefox does and then some, runs smooth too.

There's no doubt Firefox's pop-up blocking abilities will lose their edge over time, and yes I'd imagine development-wise, the browser will counteract whatever happens.

At the moment though, these pop-ups are annoying, but I refuse to go back to IE after enjoying the relative streamlined interface and ease of use firefox offers. I might have to try out a new browser though if the problem becomes worse.

Thanks for the helpfull pointers etc chaps.
I`ve been on the net all day with the firefox browser - no popups - no bells - no nothing. Does seem a little slow with sites with lots of pics etc but i can live with that.
                Cheers

                  More memory leaks for me.

The main one is when playing Radio1 in a window - a few hundred MB gone in a few hours forever (well until a reboot).

Firefox is open source, it's not beyond the realms of reason that M$ hire staff to contribute deliberately buggy code to entice people back to IE (roffle)

What, shovelling IE code to the Moz team?

                      heh ;p

That is odd, if I shut down firefox and wait a while the VM size eventually reduces to zero before the process finally terminates.

Why dont people use netscape. Its like a brick wall it never crashes. Sure it loads alot slower and its a bit more of a drain on the resources but its seriously the only browser out there to use!

I just can't get my head around that line!
                            Firefox for me...
It's just so easy to use. The more I use computers, the more I appreciate good interface design. That's why Apples are starting to attract me more and more. The way that Firefox allows you to have so many (useful!) features at your fingertips is great. Three thumbs up!
