Calling Metropolis Street Racer experts (DC)

The game that keeps on giving...but now I think I've finally completed everything that it has to offer..or have I?

This game has taken me a long time complete as, I'm sure you know, it requires heavy investment to truely master the controls and complete the latter chapters. It's a case of the further into the game you get, the more you are rewarded and the more skills you develop. So herein lies my problem...

I've completed all of the main events for ALL chapters, as well as passing all of the Specials. Yet, despite this, there has been no end credits, seemingly no end reward. If this seems weird, I'll post up my stats soon to show what I have and haven't done. Is there anything left to do? Am I missing something? I'm sure I am, but I can't for the life of me work out what I might have missed, seeing as I have completed all of the events!

Any help will be greatly appreciated! (btw, I think a MSR love thread is far over due, but that's not today's issue ) Cheers.

interesting, I got my end credits as soon as I'd opened everything up (not completed everything) I still had a good 3 chapters to go. Maybe you missed it a while back?

So you've completed all 250 challenges?

I rememeber getting the credits around chapter 20 so i'm sure you get them when all the challenges have been unlocked. Maybe you got the credits at a similar stage and skipped them by mistake or something.

IIRC, like already mentioned, you get the credits for, ahem, completing the world events? By completing, I mean having enough kudos to play through it even though you haven't actually done them. Wasn't the last car unlocked a Skyline or something? I should load up the DC and check...

I didn't think it was that difficult (or good...) a game, mostly due to taking advantage of the poor structure (not to mention the clever AI, not).

              Tetsuo.
Not sure about NTSC but the original PAL copies of MSR were bugged insofar as the kudos / score was all wrong. Those in the know sent their bugged copy to SEGA UK for replacment disks with proper scoring systems.
You may either have an original buggy one, or everyone who (prematurely) seen the end credits may have the buggy discs. Or none of those.

I have the 'fixed' version, but could only complete about 75% of the challenges.

I really love this game, back when I only had a Dreamcast I used to play it all the time. Just deleted my save file and kept starting over once I had completed as much as I could. Which was everything except the last chapter, those races in the rain with the brutally cheesy AI were too much for me . Don't remember ever seeing the credits either, even though I did have all the races unlocked atleast.

I'm still sad they took out all the nice touches when making Project Gotham, like the real time thing, having the 3 cities correspond with the timezones was a great idea, even though it meant I was always racing in Tokio in the dark .
                Possible slight spoiler:

And the bonus vehicles like bus, taxi and lawnmower, the TV mode racing, the weird moving camera mode and the grass cheat.....all gone . (in case anyone's wondering, I never unlocked them, I had to cheat to get those ).

OK, so here are the important stats from my player profile:

                  Standard Cars : 28/28
                  Bonus Cars : 13/13
                  Cheat Vehicles : 7/7
                  Circuits Open : 242/262
                  Specials Availible : 44/44
                  Specials Beaten : 44/44
                  Races Available : 250/250
                  Races Raced : 250/250
                  Races Beaten : 250/250
                  Races Abandoned : 0/250
                  Races Failed : 0/250

So obviously the only strange thing there is the 'Circuits Open' stat, which claims I still have another 20 circuits to unlock (but how if I have already 'finished' the game?)

Incidently, I don't have a 'tick/swoosh' on "World Champion - Global Challenge" (Chapter 25) like the other chapters, despite the fact I have completed all the challenges on it (as well as the Specials). Is that significant?

Thanks for all the help guys, seriously. I'm beginning to think that I have a bugged copy (it is PAL by the way, Ian(not Ian)), which is slightly dissapointing, seeing all my hard work, and no congratulatory reward

Despite this, I still don't have a bad word to say about this game, bugged or not, and hey...maybe Sega UK can still help me out here, right?

I was always rubbish at this; never got past about chapter 3. Somehow I got to about chapter 9 on PGR, and completed PGR2 with all silver and about 30-something Golds, so either I got better, or the games got a lot easier.

Anyway, the one relevant thing I was going to say was that, on my copy at least, no matter how I messed around with the clock, I seemed to always be racing Tokyo in the dark. Did anyone else find this?

Well I did always race in the dark, but that was because I set the clock to the actual time. When I changed it the time in the cities changed accordingly though.
