KOTOR - combat tips needed!

It's could be that I'm thick, but I just can't click with the combat in the game - I really like the game, story, atmosphere etc. but am struggling (too used to real-time melee I suppose)

I'm only on the second planet, but keep getting wiped out by any enemies that are stronger than amoeba - any helpful general hints & tips anyone could share would be much appreciated, before I bury my copy of the game in the Nevada desert.

It's been a while since I have played this but I seem to remember using a fair few grenades when I was starting out on the game, also freezing people is a good idea and I usualy had one character who would always be ready to heal folk.

I'm a bit hazy, but which one is the second planet? If you are on Taris, then I'd go with Yorath and chuck some grenades at people. Also note that swords are always better than pistols, even if you are a scoundrel. Flurry is your friend.

Try to pick off the weaker enemies first, sticking all your people on them. Don't forget to use the medipacks by going into the main menu, that way you don't lose a turn.
