    XBox + Monitor + Headphones = Problem

Ok. I have a lovely 20" TFT with both composite and s-video inputs (but no speakers). I'd like to hook my XBox up to it but because of the lack of a headphone socket in the xbox (madness) I can't get any sound, either through headphones or my external PC speakers.

Does anyone have any ideas how I can get sound?

s-video only carries picture, not sound, so that's no good, do you have headphone socket on your monitor ?

Nope, that's the problem. I understand how it all works, I just hoped someone would know of a way to get sound out of the xbox, through a peripheral perhaps?

Even if the monitor did have a headphone socket, there's no way to get sound from the xbox to the monitor.

A standard Xbox S-Video cable has the standard phono white/red stereo leads - why can't you just plug these into the inputs on your speakers? If the speakers don't have phono inputs, then you'll need ( most likely ) a phono to jack cable.

Never thought of that, cheers. My speakers don't have phono inputs but I'll look into it.

          Thanks.

Anyone point me in the direction of an appropriate adapter (phono (female) to jack (female))?

The only one I can find is phono (female) to jack (male).

Cheers. I'd looked there already and couldn't find what I wanted. Gonna go with a bastard combo of 2 rca to jack with a jack adapter (male to male). No idea if it'll work but I'm guessing yes.

I always find www.cpc.co.uk to be very good. Not sure if you need to have an account though.
