us and japanese ps2 compatibility

Hi, I`m currently living in Japan (Kochi!) and am dying to play a whole bunch of games in english language. How do I get US PS2 games to work on a jap machine? Failing that, will a US PS2 work (out of the box) in Japan?

You should be able to take the US console over to Japan and use it there. Both countries use 110V (although you might need to get a power cable adaptor, I'm not sure of the plug style in the US).

The other option is chipping a JPN ps2, which could be hard.

I think importing an american console is the best option for you as you can use it on japanese TV, power supply and enjoy games in English.

videogamesplus, tronix, and ncsx are all good suppliers.

You could possibly go the playasia route instead, on the off chance you get cheaper shipping (which is what I imagine this decision will come down to).
