    Laptop brightness adjusting...

On a Satellite Toshiba lappy, one thing i noticed is that each time it boots-up, the brightness level is always maxed, so i gotta turn it down with the FN and arrow keys everytime - is there anyway to have it at fixed brightness? or is this the way lappys are set? My mate got an IBM and it does the same too...

When you're running it off of the battery? I've got a Toshiba Tecra and it alters the brightness based on the power source.

You could create a custom power profile using the power management utility with a lower screen brightness and set your laptop to load that profile everytime.

Or you could adjust the current profile and turn the brightness down a couple of notches.

(This is all assuming that you have the 'Power Saver' utility. Start > Programs > Toshiba > Utilities > Console. Then 'Power management')

Nope, not running off batts - i went into the power management menu and it was all greyed out along with all the tabs n options, so PM only applies when running off batts then?

You need to download the toshiba power mangement utils from toshba.com

Cheers, finally sorted it out now, had the PM utils already - had to run CoPM (Control panel extension) data file to get to the brightness controls for some reason.
