After the success of the GBA one seriously hope Ninty bring one out (I'm assuming the DS is compatible and all that)

I'd love to see someone blowing out candles or shouting words using a D padIt seriously cant work - unless they brought out a handheld touchpad + stylus with a mic built in.
For a lot of functions an analogue stick wont work - like if you have to touch a certain area of the screen, even a crosshair via analogue control wouldnt work right.

No analogue stick is analogue enough to even let you write properly, let alone enable you to tap an exact point, quickly drag an object, or scribble like a mentalist. A heldheld touchpad would need a screen built in too, so you know where you're touching. Then you'd probably need to build in a second screen, because it would be difficult to keep shifting focus between the touchpad and the TV screen. Then there'd be no point having a picture on the TV at all.
I can't think of any way a DS player could be done. Wait... anyone remember lightpens?

I've got a graphics tablet. It doesn't have a screen on it though. Here's an example of why it won't work. One of the games in Made in Wario requires you to squash a flea on a dog's back. It's hopping around. It's not hard, you just jab it with the stylus, but you only have a couple of seconds to do it. How can you possibly do that on a tablet while looking at the TV?

Perhps your tablet doesn't work terribly well or you lack a bit of hand eye co-ordination; my pen doesn't have to be in direct contact with the tablet to work out where in proportion to the edges it is, so it would be pretty easy with a pointer on the screen. It's a bit of a moot point though, you'd have this hybrid controller/graphics tablet, which I can't see Nintendo creating.
It'd be okay for PC emulation.Last edited by MartyG; 17-12-2004, 12:49.
