Graphics card on the way out?

I'm using a GF4 Ti 4800SE and have been for exactly 2 years tomorrow . But I think it's started to play up. I'll be playing FFXI like normal when the monitor will start to flicker. Then it will flicker more and more, then the picture disappear and I get white flashes in the middle of the screen etc. Then the PC crashes. I originally thought it was a monitor problem, until the PC crashed. Any ideas? I can give more info on anything if required.

Only does that when playing games? If so, may be a heat issue... take the card out and check the heatsink is still seated properly? Clean off the dust, check the fan is still working etc

I agree with hohum. Definitely sounds like a heating issue to me. I had something similar happen to me last week. PC was fine in 2D (normal Windows/fils etc), as soon as I ran a game, then artifacts started to appear. If left long enough the PC crashed.

Fitted a new fan (as the old one had stopped). Now right as rain.

      But a bit loud.

my card did something similar when i tried to overcolck it once. its suprising how much dust can affect fans and stuff, I thought my HDD had knackered out, so I bought a new one, thne when i went to fit it cleaned all the heatsinks and fans in my pc, and it worked fine. Now i'm stuck with a HDD i don't need

Halfy - you need a new graphics card anyway

EvilBoris - You can never have too many hard drives

Edit: Oh, and hoovering up all the dust is a good idea, as is using your machine with the case open to make sure all the fans are still working

Sounds like a heat issue, check in your bios to see your system temperature. If its above 60 then you have a problem and need better fans and heat-sinks.
