    Stepdown question

I was wanting to check what wattage of step down transformer you all use for your ps2, gc and xbox?

well i got a 100w for ps2/gc. dont have xbox but would say you'd need a 150w or higher to be safe

      I'm using a 150w for my Cube and a 200w for my XBox. PS2 is a Messiah'd UK machine so don't need a step-down for that.

      From the Import FAQ:

Console Power Recommendation (Watts, W, VA)
      Dreamcast 75 Watts
      PS2 100 Watts
      Gamecube 120 Watts
      Xbox 150 Watts

        PS2 uses 65w I believe - Xbox something like 125w

You don't need that high for a GC - I'm using a 50w for mine - it has low power consumption - all pre PS2 consoles and the Cube will work fine at 50w barring the odd exception like the laser active.

When i bought my first Cube i was using a 50w step-down. The step-down would get extremely hot after only 30 minutes or so. Thats why i upgraded. Btw just checked and i'm currently using a 100w with my Gamecube now, not a 150w. No heat problems.

I took my cube with me on a bussiess trip a few weeks ago and just grabbed one of my older step downs out of the cupboard, and it lasted 20 mins before it went. It was a 50w one, try and buy a decent one if you can.

Maplin are doing a decent 300w unit with 2 sockets on it for ?29.99 that should be good for most things.
