    Speed up Firefox

Courtesy of Choddo over at Rllmuk. His friend scrumpy provided the tweaks.

    Source: http://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php...pic=68944&st=0

    1. Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries:

    network.http.pipelining
    network.http.proxy.pipelining
    network.http.pipelining.maxrequests

Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading.

    2. Alter the entries as follows: (by double clicking them)

    Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true"

    Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true"

Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once.

    3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves.
I noticed a speed increase, so hopefully it'll work on other PC's too.

These network tweaks (and more) were originally posted here:

There are also different suggestions here (you will want trim_on_maximize):

          and even optimised builds here:

Alternatively, the 'Tweak Network Settings' extension provides an easier interface, and a bunch of presets, for these same network settings.

            I'd recommend that.

              Thanks Papercut.

trim_on_maximize and /prefatch1 (added at the end of target in Firefox's shortcut launch properties) have also helped speed things up even further.

This wastes IE in its original form.

Great tips man! Especially about the memory leak.

If everyone up their max requests though you will inevitably slow the servers down in the long run.

I noticed very little difference knocking the requests down to 15. You can probably limit it even more without considerable effect.
