X-Box Speaking German?

I turn on my XBox, pop in a game and I get an on screen menu speaking German? I do not speak German. It automatically defaults to this setting and will not allow me to play any game? This is bizarre and is a new defect that stumps me. Is their any way to reset the XBox or do I need to service it? Has anyone encountered this before? Any suggestions are very much appreciated.

I hate to ask... but where did you buy it? I'm guessing that there's an outside chance that you've bought a German Xbox.
