    Quake 4 screens

lol id of course looks like it's getting the graphics right since it's based on the Doom engine. Hopefully the game will also have a decent multiplayer unlike Doom 3. Here are a few new screens:

Interesting thing about Doom engine stills now is that you know they're not ridiculous high-res tarted up affairs that adorn console game hype.

Its a given it'll look amazing. Question is will they remember to put a game in there this time?

Good point. I guess with Doom they just spent so much time getting the graphics right that they skimped on the story. Should be different this time with a kickass single player and multiplayer since they don't have to build it from scratch.

Second shot looks good, not so sure on the first. Curiously doesn't look all that 'next-gen', - it's somewhat flatter looking than Doom 3.

One to watch, but doesn't excite like Half Life 2 did, or STALKER does.

            Interesting...
Looks a bit like a Doom 3 mission pack.
Nice to see the bad guys from Quake 2 back again, they were always good for a laugh. Well, a shootout. Stompy robots aren't going to be as fun as the Combine or the Covenent though, I just know it.

info about quake IV came out several months ago. It has a wide base of environments, including outdoors, so it isnt going to be a doom III dark corridor clone.

Vehicles are present as well (vehicle code is present in the doom III engine)

Those screenshots look just like Doom3, a bit too much imo.

Quake has been a great series and I'm really looking forward to no4, mainly for the multiplayer which should be great.

Aren't Raven software doing this one - they of Soldier of Fortune 2 fame ?

That game was semi-decent so I hold a bit of hope for this one.

Apparently SoF2 multi was great, though I never played it.

The whole Heretic and Hexen and Hexen 2 thingy was great at the time...
It's guaranteed to be ok at least.
                    I hope.

Blergh. looks like someone raided ID's PC's and got hold of the Doom 3 recycle bin folder. Plastic character models = bad

I still play sof2 online, it is my main game and it still holds its own after nearly 4 years of playing it online..

I wish sof3 would hurry up and appear

Nope. Though Activision's CEO Ron Doornink said, when he announced sequels to True Crime, Call of Duty, Spider-Man, Tony Hawk, Shrek, and Quake, they were scheduled for the fiscal year of 2005, which is anywhere between April 2005 and March 2006 (rumor has it they might be future console ready).

Those shots certainly aren't up to Unreal 3 standards, though I suppose it's unfair to compare Quake 4 with it considering the former isn't due to be released until 2006.

Someone could quite easily have said they were screens for a Doom III expansion pack and I would've believed them.
