    Difference between Asian/Korean/Japanese releases (want to make this clear).

    I used "search" but still the information I found was a bit vague. So I just want to make this clear once and for all (I'm mainly referring to PS1 & PS2 games now).

    Asian (For Home Use Only)
    ====
    Manual: Japanese, Chinese & English quick guide included
    Cover: Chinese & English (or is it in Japanese & English?)
    Game: In Japanese (or do they have Chinese text or voices?)
    Product Code: SCAJ/SLAJ-xxxxx

    Japanese (For Japan Only)
    =======
    Manual: Japanese
    Cover: Japanese
    Game: Japanese
    Product Code: SLPM/SLPS-xxxxx

    Korean (For Korea Only)
    =====
    Manual: Korean (is it also in Japanese, and/or do they include quick guides, if so in what language?)
    Cover: Korean (Any other language on the cover?)
    Game: Are the games with Korean text and voice?
    Product Code: SLKA-xxxxx

    Most of you people probably don't care if the text/voices are in Korean, Chinese or Japanese but I would really like to know

    Depends on the game really...so you won't clear it up "once and for all", but I'll tell you what I know.

    Most Asian versions are identical to the JPN version. And by that, I mean the actual game itself, so Japanese text/voices. I think some HDD-compatible games lose that feature for the Asian version though..

    Asian versions have "For Home Use Only" on the back cover, and on the disc pressing. The text on the back of the box is often Chinese, but not always. Likewise, the title on the spine can be in English sometimes. The serial number/product code is different too. JPN games have a product code like SLPM/SLPS-xxxxx, whereas Asian games are usually SCAJ/SLAJ-xxxxx.

    Also on the back cover, is a little boxout detailing the manual/in-game language(s), type of game etc. In my experience, they usually come with the original JPN manual, and it's merely supplemented by a translation guide in Chinese/English.

    Some major releases though are available with a dedicated Chinese/Korean language version. GT4, for example.

    Korean games I don't know much about. Pretty sure the back cover etc is all in Korean though.

      Thanks for the additional information (I added some of your information to the first post) . I have also noticed that Japanese Re-releases have two product codes. I have so far only a few Japanese games, and one Asian, but no Korean versions yet.

      Also one other thing I have been thinking about, it seems that the Japanese versions are usually/always? released first. And that some games never seem to be released as Korean or Asian versions?.

      Anyone here own a Korean version that can provide more information about them?

        The only Korean PS2 game I have is Pump It Up Exceed which isn't a useful example as there are no other versions. However, it does say "For Korea Only" on the back and the product code is of the form SLKA-xxxxx.

          ^^ Thanks, added the information . I will direct Ebay sellers to this thread, because many don't seem to know (or clearly specify) exactly what import versions they are selling.
