whast psyvarier 2 like for the ps2?

has it been improved from the dreamcast version?

improved; how could it be improved (apart from the "missing" roll button of course but that's another topic altogether) check out Saur's Xbox first play thread of Psy2 guess it's identical

there are lots of improvements in fact, level select, mission mode, boss energy bars, visible hit spheres, playthrough DVD.

we should have a mini review covering all the new features soon

Its worth buying the PS2 version just for the Level Select. Invaluable for when your training-up.

So which is the best version to get as I got SC Stick for GC/PS2 (and XBOX via magic box) and Dreamcast with Arcade stick.

There is a certain level of motion assist which you have to identify and work with. Once you realise what it's doing, you should find the controls easier.

Are you using a stick? The DC and PS2 versions are exactly like the arcade version, only difference is the rolling applied to a button for pad users and novices to use on the Playstation versions.

Rolling is very easy in Psyvariar 2, hit 2 opposing directions and the craft will roll until the stick is returned to neutral. If you want to roll dead on a spot you must hold the craft while rolling against any edge of the screen. Once you get better use small L/R, UP/D to substitute having to use the sides of the screen to stay still, there is a slight bounce applied to the motion which keeps you near enough dead on the spot.

The trick with Psyvariar is to learn a routine for each section after learning the enemy attacks and placements. For example Area 0, if you hold still at the bottom of the screen, nudge across to Buzz the first pink shots and from then on you can just sit there rolling as everything skims past you. Once you know the layout for that section get more and more involved as far as movement is concerned to build it your buzz more as you get better.

Seriously the movement system is amazing once you learn it - there's so much you can do just via the joystick. There are superb slittle quirks to it like the way it automatically attaches you to circular paths and it's wicked the way you can murder entire stages with movement alone.

Have a look at some Psyvariar 2 play videos if you dont believe people can master the game through a little training.

rolling is easier but the contols are far too twitchy on the stick. Dpad is better but I find it rather fustrating :/.

see it through with the stick.

                    honestly, the game demands it

think its probably because i am so used to the original controls i shall perserve but i just find the pixel perfect movements to buzz projectiles on the original far easier than the sequel
